The symposium is part of our youth development umbrella of programs and falls in line with our efforts to promote science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), to our community.
This Healthcare and Science Stars of Tomorrow Career Symposium attracted more than 1,000 ethnically diverse students from more than 25 schools from Palm Beach, Okeechobee, and Martin Counties. The students came together with numerous healthcare professionals and academic institution representatives for career exploration through lectures, exhibits, live demonstrations, and multimedia sources. Our 40 exhibitors included professionals from University of Miami, NSU Florida, Palm Beach State College, Palms West Hospital, and The Scripps Research Institute, among others.

High school students get ready for college! Our Science of Success program is a college prep and readiness workshop for high school students in the Glades area.
The single-day workshop occurs twice throughout the school year. It provides students with vital information and resources in the areas of high school course planning, college essay writing, resume building, and college application completion.
Led by local leaders and professionals in the medical industry, as well as in the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields, students receive hands-on guidance and instructional tips to prepare them for college success.
At Glades Central High School in Belle Glade, Florida, counselors and tutors work with students (grades 9-12) and parents on scholarship essays, college applications, and course schedules. Physicians encourage students to pursue careers in medicine and discuss their career journey.
